“Solar Return Relocation, is it a Promise for a Better Outcome?”

As I begin another article on a subject very dear to my heart I came to the realization that I am about to celebrate my one year anniversary in writing this blog which started on April 25th 2009, and I began to wonder what I thought about it, and were my expectations met?  In thinking about it I remember how nervous and unsure I was, attempting a project to set up a blog with the limited computer knowledge and skills I had under my belt.  I felt I had the comprehension and the intelligence for astrology and the different occult arts, but I never felt my self to be intellectual in my explanations in these areas.  Reading the other astrology blogs, I saw that my thoughts were just that, my thoughts.  I was not expressing a dogma from any specific school of astrology, but a combination of all different areas and types of astrology that worked for me, and I was sharing those ideas as thoughts and not as dogmas.  There were times when I felt like Julie of the movie “Julie and Julia”, is there anyone out there.  I came to the conclusion that writing this blog has been a great value to me because it helps categorize my thoughts, and made them clearer to me.  It also showed me that by being open to all forms of the new and old astrology, that it created in me a thirst to know more and that learning is continuous and never ending.  What a joy is in that thought, that every moment and everyday is a new adventure.  I realized also that my thoughts on any idea may change and that I am open to new ideas and that was okay.  For a person with Sun in Taurus, that was a big accomplishment from my normal fixed ideas.

This brings up the continuing debate with the relocation of a person on his birthday to bring about a better solar return for the year, and whether this really works.  In this modern world many people have relocated their place of residence, different from their place of birth, and I have always erected the chart for where the individual was residing.  As I follow Morin for this rule, I realized that in his day, moving about was more difficult and complicated then it is today.  There is a famous astrologer Mr. Ciro Discepolo in Europe, who is a great advocate of sending his rich and famous clients to a better location for a better outcome for the coming year.  I would think this is great if one could afford a couple days in an exotic location, but I always wondered if that really worked.  I think about actors who are away from their residence for shooting on location, would one take that location which might forebode a bad year?  Or how about politicians who are always on the go, should one use the place he was at during his birthday?  I think not, since the choice was not the individual or his or her astrologer.  Yet I always thought there must be something to relocation, otherwise the clientele of Mr. Discepolo would no longer use him, so there must be something happening in the right way.

Another astrologer whom I admire is Christopher Warnock of Renaissance Astrology who also had a problem with relocation of the solar Return, until he considered the relocation like an astrological magical ritual or talisman to change the outcome for the year.  We know the mind is powerful and how we direct our thoughts will create that which we wish for.  Considering it this way, I can see the benefits and the reason for telling a client to relocate a couple days during his or her birthday to avoid certain problems, if one understands it as a magical ritual.  Although this made sense to me, I began to wonder if the Universe has placed these difficulties in our way so we can learn and grow, or are we adding to the problem by delaying what is inevitable?  And by delaying our experience in the difficulties, are we compounding the situation for a later date, and make it more complicated to deal with?

Meditating on this, I realized why I love Solar Returns in the first place, that it gave me an indication of what the year would be like, and what I needed to deal with.  As I have always constantly mentioned, being forewarned is being forearmed, and what could be better to equip us in deciding how to navigate through the complexities of the situation.  For me any kind of astrological magical ritual, which would include mental magic, will begin to create the future one wants.  That is one of the reasons I feel that by meditating on the New and Full Moon, one is entering an astrological magical ritual which is like wearing a talisman for good luck, creating the world we want to live in.  So whether one decides to make changes in the way one is doing things, or one decides to relocate on one’s birthday to create a better solar return chart, it is up to you.  It is up to each individual to make that choice, because although life appears to be destined, the Universe in all its’ wisdom has given us free will.

“Scorpio Full Moon on April 28, 2010 is Sharing and Receiving Information”

As we approach another Full Moon happening at 5:20 a.m. PDT on April 28, 2010 at 8 Scorpio 7, I am beginning to realize how I am treating each of these different moon periods, as a time to reflect and meditate on the influence they have on us, no matter how subtle the effect will be.  With the Full Moon in Scorpio, the Sun which is in opposition subtlety plays its’ part in coloring our perspectives, demanding us to communicate and share our thoughts and ideas, and to listen and pay attention.  When one is listening, one is giving the other person, the opportunity to share and give.  Mars the ruler of Scorpio is reminding us that anything that is worth having takes work and perseverance, and needs to be shared with others.  Anything worth doing is worth doing it right from the beginning, and rushing through the project for financial gain or personal glory at this time will no longer produce the results we are seeking.

“The Sabian symbol for the Moon in 9 degrees of Scorpio and for the Sun in 9 degrees of Taurus is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Scorpio 9  Dental work  this is a symbol of self-renewal through a continuous attention to the needs of the being on all planes of effort, and of the stewardship of an inner and divine spark through which individuality sustains its spiritual citizenship in the symbolical community of its kind.  Here are high personal rewards for every proper concern over one’s potentialities and possessions.  Man fulfills his highest mission as he dramatizes himself and his excellencies for his fellows.  The keyword is practicality.  When positive, the degree is a creative ingenuity brought to a real service for others, and when negative, a thoughtless acceptance of life’s makeshifts and an unhealthy admiration for artificiality.

Taurus 9  A Christmas tree decorated  This is a symbol of a self-renewal through a sharing with others, or a remaking of ties and a regathering of visions through the recurrent birth of a world spirit.  Here individual reciprocity is given added dimensions as both a practical fact and an idealistic pattern or ritualization.  Possessions are enhanced as they are exhibited, and as the enjoyment becomes increasingly vicarious and spiritual.  The keyword is symbolization.  When positive, the degree is man’s achievement of complete self-satisfaction through a simple sharing of his potentials with his fellows, and when negative, a desire to place people under obligation and to enjoy life’s riches without payment in kind.

One thing I have learnt in this life time is that we cannot give, if we don’t have it to give.  If we are to share and help others, we must first help ourselves.  We are no help to others if our spiritual thoughts and actions need improving.  We must make sure our spiritual thoughts and actions are a transparency of who we really are and want to be.  This transparency can then be a beacon of light to attract and guide others to the truth we are practicing and wish to share with others.  In sharing we not only bless others, but the blessings of sharing, blesses our lives as well.  With the Moon in Scorpio, it is asking us to give our all to the sharing and communicating and to live the moment!

“Mercury Retrograde April 17th to May 11th 2010 ▬ Is Living the Moment!”

As the different cycles continue their course, Mercury Retrograde, ever the true messenger and traveler returns with gusto on Saturday, April 17, 2010 in 12 Taurus 37 through Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in 2 Taurus 39.  The ruler of my chart is Mercury, so I tend to have a fondness for this planet in whatever state it is in and do not have the fear and uneasiness, most people have when it appears to retrograde.  My biggest concern with retrograde is not with the planet, but our concepts and apprehensions we have built up through time, about what might happen to us when we go through this period.  Having experienced this phenomenon many times, I can attest to the fact that if one is cautious, alert and aware of what is happening at the moment, one has nothing to fear, but fear itself.  Many times during these periods when a computer, car or electronic instrument is going haywire, our biggest problem is the frustration and the time involved.  Or when a letter, agreement or contract is involved and we did not pay attention to the small print or what was being said at the time.  We get a surprise which we did not foresee because we had not paid attention, and lived the moment when it was happening.  The fault is not all due to the planet Mercury, but with us, in this fast pace world of today, instead of living the moment, we are anticipating the future.  We are mostly at fault as we tend not to be cautious and  live the moment with the zest and the gusto like the planets, as they travel through the zodiac.

With Mercury in Taurus and in a fixed sign, we need to pay attention to our speech, communications of any sort, meditations, tactics and any analytical and logical thoughts we may have.  We need to be concerned and aware of our feelings, emotions, possessions, knowledge and that which represents us to the world.  Look at whom we choose to be our friends, environment, pleasures and hopes we surround ourselves with.  We need to realize that the planet Mercury is in a fixed sign, that makes us like the status quo, and any change will cause fear, upset and frustration.  If we live the moment, we may find that the situation was not as bad as we thought, and that we are happy with new directions and the results it brings about.

“The Sabian symbol for the 13th degrees of Taurus is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Taurus 13  A man handling baggage  This is a symbol of the joy in effort put on the practical or everyday side of life, and of the adjustment by which the human individual is able to make his niche for himself in each available sphere of activity.  Here is an extreme of dependence on the strength and resources of self, and an emphasis on the fact that there is no function in society which is not of equal importance with every other in fulfilling a person’s need to be useful.  The keyword is industry.  When positive, the degree is an effective self-competence and virility of interest in normal living, and when negative, a dissipation of selfhood and a depreciation of all ambition through the performance of drudgery without protest.

The meaning for industry is as follows taken from The American Heritage Dictionary “energetic devotion to a task or an endeavor, diligence”.  For me if we can find and develop the energy, devotion and diligence to live and pay attention to the moment, the frustrations and stress we experience from Mercury Retrograde would turn from fear to anticipation for all the good destined for us.  Seeing where and how Mercury Retrograde is placed in the natal chart and how it aspects our natal mercury, will give us clues in which areas to work with, to receive benefits, instead of frustrations and delays.

“New Moon at 25th Degree Aries on April 14 2010 is Being Aware of the Moment!”

My favorite time of the month is approaching, although a few astrologers do not consider it as advantageous.  Most practitioners of the art, including myself, believe it to be the start of something new and quite beneficial.  The New Moon at 24 Aries 27 happening at 5:29 a.m. PDT has the ruler of the Moon in Mars at 7 degrees of Leo, which is quincunx Pluto at 6 degrees of Capricorn, and Pluto trine Mercury conjunct Venus.  With a quincunx, Pluto is allowing us to know that transforming any thoughts and ideas takes work, perseverance with trials and tribulations to perfect the final outcome.  With communication skills and the ability to appreciate beauty transforming itself into higher octaves, the need to see a spiritual reason, and a purpose to everything we do and touch, is vitally important at this time.  The Moon in Aries sextle Chiron and Neptune is telling us to feel the energy and essence of who we are, and that we have the ability to feel the vision and understand the energy that brings these ideas into reality.  As in all New Moons, it is the time to take a moment and reflect on what has been happening and to decide if this is the right direction for us.  It is also the time to be more aware of the moment and to be conscious of all that is going on.  Just like the spring season, what thoughts we seed, whether consciously or unconsciously will bloom in the future.  So if we are not careful of our thoughts, because we are not paying attention to the moment, we may be in for many surprises in the future, which we have created ourselves.

“The Sabian symbol for the 25th degree of Aries is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Aries 25  A double promise  This is a symbol of man’s stark resourcefulness on the side of everyday experience.  For each potentiality that life may offer him there are alternatives of equal or supplementary value which he is able to recognize, and within himself there is always the symbolical as well as the literal pertinence of everything that comes to his attention.  Here is unlimited capacity for seeing the world and self both inwardly and outwardly.  The keyword is sensibility.  When positive, the degree is a facility of adjustment by which everything in a given situation may be brought into the fullest co-operation with everything else, and when negative, compromising insincerity and a lean to chicanery in all human relationships.

We can take the signs and aspects and literally come up with a long explanation to what they mean, or we can trust our higher intuition and let these symbols speak truth to our souls and show us the way, to what we seek.  Either way, if we are sincere the truth will find its’ way to our door step, and the answers of what we should do, will be apparent.  As the aspects are telling us we must make changes and the zodiacal symbols are telling us if we want to transform and see a better tomorrow, we must work together as one.   The extreme weather patterns this winter has shown us the Earth is rebelling, and the Universe is reminding us that we are connected and united with every living and supposedly nonliving things or objects in this world.  Until we realize this, and work for the good for everyone and everything,  the Universe will continue putting obstacles in our way.  If we are not kind to the Earth soon, the Earth will begin to let us know that we are all in this together, and the results will not be to our liking.  This New Moon is telling us that everything in this world is connected and to be conscious of each moment, and to make our decisions wisely, and then sensibly bringing them into fruition.
