“Mercury Retrograde Starting on March 30th 2011 Warns Us That Haste Makes Waste”

The dark winter days are giving way as we are continuing into the New Year and within about ten days after the vernal equinox, the first Mercury Retrograde of 2011 begins on March 30th at 24 Aries 21 appears on the horizon.  As one who has always been respectful of the energy and the results that Mercury Retrograde can generate in one’s life, I have long begun to realize that by working with the planet I may, and am usually able to avoid some of the worst pitfalls.  A Retrograde period is when caution, carefulness and retrospection is a necessity to avoid glitches, personal misunderstanding, flawed, disrupted, and delayed communications with ourselves and others.  Although I know there will be delays and disruptions that we can not avoid during this period, I do believe much of the frustrations and stress we experience is sometimes caused by our own carelessness in our thinking and action.

With the retrograde in a fire and cardinal sign, it is reminding us to monitor our actions and impulses to avoid frustrations and disappointments.  That haste makes waste is no idle saying of those who came before us.  The necessity to make things happen is at the front of our thoughts and actions at this time, and possibly without the forethought and preparation, that at other times we would carry out and think about.  Whether it is the action of others, or actions instigated by our own ambitions and desires, the keywords are caution and alertness in preparing to fulfill our wishes.  With Uranus about to enter the sign of Aries, change is no longer a thought in consciousness, but the actual need to bring it into reality.  Uranus always needs to be handled with a kid glove and care, but with the retrograde, our logical and sensibility are handicapped.  The key thought here is not to act on a hunch, impulse or the hearsay of others, without thoroughly understanding the situation and our responsibility for our actions and our thoughts when the results come in.

“The Sabian symbol for the 25th degree of Aries is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Aries 25  A double promise  This is a symbol of man’s stark resourcefulness on the side of everyday experience.  For each potentiality that life may offer him there are alternatives of equal or supplementary value which he is able to recognize, and within himself there is always the symbolical as well as the literal pertinence of everything that comes to his attention.  Here is unlimited capacity for seeing the world and self both inwardly and outwardly.  The keyword is sensibility.  When positive, the degree is a facility of adjustment by which everything in a given situation may be brought into the fullest co-operation with everything else, and when negative, compromising insincerity and a lean to chicanery in all human relationships.

Sensibility is the keyword and caution is its’ alter ego.  Having experienced Mercury Retrogrades in my life many times, I have come to the realization that to avoid the pitfalls, one must understand and work with the planet.  This is the time to retreat within our sacred space and review and meditate on what has passed and to either resume, revise or reinvent our purpose and direction for the future.  Mercury’s gift to us at this time is to take a breather from our fast paced existence from this world, and begin to live the moment.  Take time to smell the flowers and to pay attention to all that happens to us, and for everyday and everything we take for granted.  Paying attention how we treat everyone and everything that crosses our path at this time, and our need to respect their place in the Universe.  Mercury Retrograde in Aires is warning us to control and to monitor our impulsive thinking and action, and to remember that haste makes waste.

“28 Virgo 47 Full Moon Reminds Us That Our Future is the Outcome of Our Past”

In this very busy world we live in, as we approach each New and Full Moon period, it gives us the opportunity to contemplate where we have been and what direction we should take in the future.  Several important factors mark the Full Moon at 28 Virgo 27 occurring at 11:10 a.m. PDT on March 19th 2011 as a turning and pivoting point of time for the changes that has been indicated by the aspects of the planets in the last few years.  This is the second of six Super Moons this year which indicates that it is at its closes distance to the Earth.  Another factor is that this Full Moon is square the nodes which peaks one day before the vernal equinox on March 20th at 4:21 p.m. PDT which adds to its key significance in the final outcome of anything accomplished at this time.

The ancients considered the equinoxes as important spiritual days to perform rituals to be in good communications and relationships with their Gods.  With Mercury conjunct Jupiter in Aries opposition to Saturn in Libra and the equinox in close proximity, it is reminding us that our future is a reflection and outcome of our past and shadowy sides of our nature.  In that case we need to work with, amend, revise or change our thinking of the past and present, to make the wishes and hopes, a reality in the future.  This moon period is allowing our inner spiritual psyche to realize that our future is within the realms of our creative mind and emotions.

“The Sabian symbol for the Moon in 29 degrees of Virgo and for the Sun in 29 degrees of Pisces is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Virgo 29  A man gaining secret knowledge from a paper he is reading  This us a symbol of the world’s conservatism, and of the refusal of nature to surrender any part of her heritage unnecessarily.  The fixity of idea by which human beings preserve their culture is also a protection for all hidden wisdom and unsuspected ways of knowing, since the deeper awareness is merely a broader reference of a further application of stabilities which constitute a universe at large.  The possibilities of greater experience lie in embryo throughout the lesser.  The keyword is discovery.  When positive, the degree is imagination brought to the full of its powers through conscious effort, and when negative, loss of common sense in supposition.

Pisces 29  A prism  This is a symbol of the world’s stability and of the refusal of nature  to change any aspect of herself unnecessarily.  The reliability of normal process and the consistency of true intelligence are the foundation of a common knowledge which man has been expanding through the centuries, and his continuance of the control he has gained over his environment is promise of much more wonderful achievement ahead.  He is able to take any convenient facet of the reality at his hand and fashion it into an effective instrument for a measure of the whole potential.  The keyword is validation.  When positive, the degree is exceptional accomplishment through judgment of unusual accuracy, and when negative, fatuous pride of intellect.

These two Sabian symbols remind us that the Universe has established laws, that if we work with them, the effect will be known.  When we seek these secrets and mysteries with sincerity and use them wisely, the world is at our finger tips.  As the light breaks into many rows of color like the rainbow as it passes through a prism.  It never changes its pattern, no matter how many times the light flows though it.  So too, are the laws of the Universe.  That is why if we wish to change our past circumstances, we need to consciously and subconsciously change our thinking.  Our preoccupation of any thought will create the very thing we are thinking about.  If we wish to create a new and better world, we need to realize that our future is the outcome of our past and present.  If we are unhappy with what we see, we need to change our thinking and create a new path of thinking, to create a more hopeful and successful future.

“A Good Astrology Reading is had when we Comprehend the Reason for the Question!”

My favorite astrology magazine has a continuing section called “compare your skills with the Pros, TMA’s Chart challenge”, and in “The Mountain Astrologer issue #188 Feb/Mar 2011, the question was suggested by a participant “I would like some insights into my Saturn Return and the current transits to my natal cardinal t-square”.  With her birth chart in hand, the question then is given to two astrologers and their conclusions are in another section of the magazine, giving the reader a chance to come up with their own scenario.  I always enjoy reading the different view points of the two astrologers in this section of the magazine as they arrive at their conclusions from different sides of the question.  Some look from the front door, others from the back and others from the windows or from the top of the ceilings.  The important thing is that they arrive at the same conclusion.

This particular question made me wonder if the question was not correctly understood by the querent.  Not that the question was not understood, but the specific question was not voiced by the question.  In a horary reading the time of the chart is expressed when the astrologer comprehends the question the querent has given him.  Maybe the questions we ask are sometimes too vague to warrant a good answer.  My first thought, was the question was too general, and not specific enough.  Why was she asking the question?  Was something happening that she thought might have been brought about, by the up coming Saturn Return and the T-square?  Was her fear about what the return would bring about, in her consciousness that brought about the question?

My thoughts came about as both astrologers and I came up the conclusion that relationships and their meaning and purpose was making a lifestyle change for the individual.  Saturn Returns brings about transitions, processing and reprocessing situations and reinvention and rejuvenating one’s style of living.  This does not necessarily mean a divorce, if the person was still married or together with someone, but the ideas and concept of their relationship might take a new turn in a direction, not explored before.  Obviously she understood and experienced the natal cardinal T-square and was wondering how it would be reactivated in her life now.  Seeing that thoughts about relationships seem important to her at this time, I thought to myself if her question was more concentrated in this area, her ability to successfully work through this Return period would be more to her satisfaction and happiness.

This made me think that when we ask questions of astrologers, or even look at our own charts, are our questions too vague to receive a good answer?  Or are the answers we are seeking, not the same as the questions we asked?  If so, are we deluding ourselves that by being more general in our questions, the answers will still show up in the charts?  It seems to me if we are more specific and certain about what we want to know about our circumstances, the more accurate the answer will be.  Then it came to me, it is not how specific we are with our question, but whether we really comprehend our own questions and what answers we are looking and hoping for, that is important.  When we decide we want to know something about our natal chart, are the little voices so numerous in our mind that the real questions gets overloaded with so many thoughts, that the simple direct question disappears?

I think this is what happens, we come up with a direct question, but our doubts and frustrations color our thoughts and we no longer recognize our direct and simple thought we originally had.  This can be illustrated by a reading I gave a friend several months back because she had been out of work because of illness and death in the family and thought she wanted to know when she would be employ again, even though she did need to do so immediately.  The solar return chart indicated something else was the priority, and during the session my friend admitted that this was so.  The key is if we want an answer to help us, we need to comprehend what we really want to know.  The reason for the question and the question itself, becomes more important then the answer.

“13 Pisces 55 New Moon On March 4th 2011 Reveals The Truth of Pandora’s Box”

As we approach the 13 Pisces 55 New Moon which will be happening at 12:47 p.m. PST on March 4th 2011, not only are the Sun and the Moon in Pisces, but also Chiron, Mars, Mercury, and Uranus, greatly magnifying the collective energy of the twelfth sign and house.  Revealing to us that the Pandora’s Box has been opened, hence we need to face the consequences of our actions.  The Myth points out that as the lid was open, evil and chaos poured out into our world, but Hope, faith, and trust also escaped.  This unexpected gift from the Universe gives mankind the hope and the necessary talents and abilities to believe that greater things and achievements are possible.  Pandora’s Box has great risk and tribulations with the possibility of enormous gain when forethought and foresight is applied to any situation confronting us.  The Box brings with it revelations, revolutions and the upheavals of economical and political reforms.  This is evident by what is happening around the globe, where thoughts and ideas are spreading like wild fires, out of control, and affecting everything in its’ path.

“The Sabian symbol for the 14th degree of Pisces is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Pisces 14  A Lady in fox fur  This is a symbol of the ever-effective dynamic with which everyday custom endows mankind, dramatized here by an individual’s desire to be in style and to express opinions of momentary weight.  Men are strengthened through whatever they are able to possess or do and think in common, but this is their bondage unless they are able also to contribute a creative content to their own experience.  The self gains integrity as it learns never to surrender its initiative, and so it adds its touch to reality.  The keyword is tastefulness.  When positive, the degree is high accomplishment through a consistent representation of the self’s assets in the best possible light, and when negative, amoral opportunism.

This is so insightful to what is happening in our global world today that change is in the air because of economical, financial and political upheavals, that what was the norm is no longer what works, or what is needed.  This symbol is revealing to us that if we wish to be in sync with our peers around the world, we need to contribute creatively to the whole and not just follow blindly the direction of the masses.  As the world has grown smaller, the need to work as a unit of one and to contribute creatively to the whole is vitally important for our survival and success as a creation of the Universe.  We must not create and cause change for the sake of change, but that the transformation we bring into reality is for the good of all.  We need to have a solution to that which we feel is not working and to bring it to fruition.  Once we have that solution we may be proud of it and other achievements will follow.  Like the apple in the Garden of Eden, which is the fruit of knowledge that can be used for good or evil, the magic and power of Pandora’s Box holds the contents to destroy or create.  The truth, power and the magic of the box is in the hand of he or she who learns to use the contents correctly with the good of all in mind.  The key is learning to use the energy properly and to our advantage.
