“Saturn, Always in the Limelight May Deny and Delay with a Twist for Showmanship”

The longer I live, learn and experience life, I realized how much I have misunderstood and misinterpreted the planet Saturn with its attributes, talents, problems, frustrations and its ability for retaliation if not obeyed and conformed to.  It is a Planet that the ancients have feared and have been cautious with as they consider Saturn malefic, and when I was a young student in the study of astrology, I was in awe of its power and destruction in one’s life.  With modern astrology the planet has taken up the role of teacher, denier, and the unexpected role of demonstrating the need for patience in our modern world.  Experiencing Saturn in my life with all its repetitions and cycles, my thoughts and feelings have come to the conclusion that the planet should also be consider the way shower to all things, and a delayer of accomplishments of the desired results with a twist for drama and showmanship.

The need to understand how and why patience is important in our success is the key or magic word that will open the door to unlimited happiness and satisfaction.  Saturn’s main blessing, if one can call a malefic a blessing, is that the blessing of patience helps us to develop the needed skills.  It also teaches us through our ability to use our intuitive skills to decide when the time is right.  The right time which some people call luck, is the ability of waiting until we have perfected our skills and being able to demonstrate our skills to an agreeable and acceptable audience.  This makes Saturn appear to deny and delay our dreams, but as of late I am beginning to feel that timing and waiting for the right time is the key.  That Saturn is not necessarily the planet that denies and delays, but is the planet that knows when it is the right time, and here is where patience is needed, so we don’t jump the gun, and lose the right moment for success.

Saturn in some natal charts tends to allow success in some areas much later in life, making us feel that Saturn delays and possibly denies our dreams.  My thoughts as of late on this matter is, it is better late then never.  Yet I feel that the right time was when it happens, because the Universe knows when we are ready and if we are not.  Saturn in a chart does not necessarily promise a good or bad outcome, it is how we use Saturn’s resources and energy that determines the conclusion.  Saturn restricts and makes us use whatever resources, talents and ideas we have in our bag to come up with something that will make a difference.  The restrictions Saturn lays in our path helps us to decide what is really important to us and gives us the reasons and determinations to pursue goals and ambitions we really never thought about before.

Saturn is like Jack in the box, when one opens the lid, jack comes jumping out full of drama and showmanship.  I have noticed in several charts of people who have achieved other successes later in life that the talents and abilities seem to come out of nowhere.  The truth of the matter is that the talents and abilities have been undergoing development for a long period of time, before we see the finish product.  Saturn fools others by letting them think, that there is no work, frustrations or delays involved to achieve the finish goal.  An example in my own life is with Saturn in Gemini conjunct Uranus in the ninth house which might imply I would like to convey my outrageous imagination through writing.  Since I have artistic tendencies in design I never ever thought about writing, especially since I have always felt inadequate in grammar, and composing complex ideas within a paragraph, was out of the question.  Just writing a thank you note would bring fear to me, that I would find all kinds of excuses to avoid it.  It was not until I was pushed into writing this blog because of a stupid bet in order to explain why I love studying astrology and my particular view of the art as a hobby and a career, that thoughts about writing changed.  Saturn in any chart is always in the limelight and one needs to discover where Saturn out shines in drama and showmanship in one’s natal chart.

“Is You Are or is You Not Declares the New Moon at 15 Libra on Oct 7 2010”

As the fall equinox rolls around again, and the harvest of thoughts, ideas and actions need to be gathered in, and worked on to bring about new results.  The New Moon at 14 Libra 23 begins at 11:44 am PDT on October 7th 2010 is the third of three Super New Moons in a row which is at its closet distance to the Earth.  One can understand how some aficionados of the New Moon, considered it a dangerous and cautious period as we continue the journey into unknown territory without the light of the moon.  The path can be dangerous as we don’t have the light to see the hazards on the road, nor do we see the light at the end of the tunnel, and success at the end is not assured.  This is the time of the month that we continue on the journey of life on faith and trust alone, that the path we have chosen will lead us to the end result we are seeking.  As this New Moon cycle begins, our need to understand who we really are, and what parts of our personality, we allow others to see, takes center stage.  Besides understanding who we are, we need to understand who we really want in our lives and the relationships we need to sustain us, and that the personality we unconsciously project to the world will attract those types of people into our world.  If we are not happy with those who surround us, we must begin to change our body language, thoughts and attitudes we have of ourselves.  The saying “Is you are, or is you are not what you appear to be to others” has more meaning and power at this point of time, and the need to see the real you, becomes more important as the months and years unfold.  Our thoughts, and those we surround ourselves with, in the coming years will be the saving grace that will help us through the trials of life.  These thoughts and friends will give us the support and strength to get through the hard times and tribulations.

“The Sabian symbol for the 15th degree of Libra is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Libra 15  Circular paths  This is a symbol of subjective fulfillment through a thoroughness of participation in experience, here dramatized by every individual’s gift for remaining true to himself at center.  There are interminable repetitions in the events of personal life, but the consciousness ever holds to its orbit and the realization must remain constant.  Man and his world may seem completely at variance with each other at some point of crisis, but inevitably everything falls into place.  The keyword is congruity.  When positive, the degree is a rather extraordinary facility in self-adjustment or practical reorientation, and when negative, a tendency to think in circles and to lose all perspective in inconsequentialities.

Remaining true to our purpose, and what really fulfills us, should be our main objective, and it is through really living each moment this will happen.  No matter how painful the repeated trials and errors are, they will finally lead us into wisdom, in which we will begin to apply it to other areas in our life.  When we begin to see each moment of life, as lessons leading us to the next step we take, only then, will growth begin and each new experience will have that much more meaning to us.  This all begins when we begin to see who we really are and our body language are one in unison.  When that happens we begin to use the power and energy of Pluto square Saturn and Mercury to renew, reinvent, revitalize and become the person we want others to see and respect.  Finally we become what you see is what you get, and that we are what we is.  We will then begin to fulfill the vision the New Moon has for us during this phase of time, as the aspects play out.

“Blast from the Past that has Last is Horary Astrology in Today’s World”

William Lilly

As an advocate that astrology should be considered a serious study with implications of it’s’ ability to forecast correctly, and that if any branch of the art that can provide evidence of the accuracy of it’s’ predictions, is exciting.  Being a member of several horary study groups, I can attest to some amazing predictions that have proven to be very correct, and incredibly enlightening in it’s’ perception of the circumstances and situations of the matter.  Horary astrology is an ancient branch of the art in which an astrologer attempts to answer a question by constructing a horoscope for the exact time at which the question was received and understood by the astrologer.  The system is an outstanding and a very exacting tool to get insights into situations and possibilities of a variety of subjects, objects and thoughts, because it deals with specific questions and replies with specific answers.  Exact birth data of the querent is not required to provide insights into dealing with problems and difficult situations.  In a horary chart, we the participants have a choice in the matter to choose whatever actions we wish to take, according to the potential successes or problems that are revealed by the chart.  The keyword is “forewarned is forearmed” because the information between success and failure in any endeavor is how we use it to achieve what we desire.   Major contributors to western horary astrology were William Lily, known in the English speaking world as the authority and father of Horary, along with John Dee, John Gadbury, Morin and a host of other writers whose works from around the ancient world were translated into English.  Many modern writers and scholars need to be included in this list in bringing this subject matter to the masses.  My endeavors to get this practice under my belt have caused me to search and read as much as I have time for, and as of late with my second study and reading of the following book, which I feel has help me a lot to understand how it works and functions.

To give you a little background of how I discovered this author, will allow you to understand how this person has affected my thinking, and have given me fuel to continue my studies with the translations of ancient writers of the art.  I find reading the earlier translations very difficult, but with some of the written material of today’s writers on the subject, I am able to bulldoze my way through some of the difficult text until I begin to absorb it.  I have a love for solar returns because I feel it can be very helpful in giving indications of the important areas in any new year that will be important to work on.  I ran across the author’s book on solar returns which included his interpretation of the aphorism of my favorite author, Morin.  His book was so well written to my way of thinking, and in discovering that he wrote a book on horary; I couldn’t wait to read it.  In reading this book, it definitely met my expectations and more.  The book is “Horary Astrology Plain & Simple by Anthony Louis”, and if you are interested in the subject matter, I wouldn’t walk to the book store, but run to it.  I would like to caution you, that after reading this book, one may think you are capable of giving readings, but I have learnt the hard way that only more studies on the subject, and the old saying “ practice makes perfect” is really true.

The important attributes of this book is how he organized and arranged, how he presents the materials, charts, tables, and information to the reader.  Although he is a modern thinking astrologer, he has included traditional astrological materials for the reader’s edification, to give a broader interpretation to the material presented.  I am not saying other books on the subject shouldn’t also be read, but I think one should start with this one first, where everything is laid out like Horary 101, and then the other authors will be clearer and better absorbed.  If we are to become the astrologers we hope to become, the foundation of Horary is very important in the delineation of any type of chart.  What horary techniques can give in our natal chart delineations would be a broader and more perceptive and caring interpretation of what is at hand.  Horary tells us to keep things simple, and in its simplicity, delineation can be extremely enlightening and awakening then one can realize.  To see life and its problems like little children, will give us a different viewpoint in which to solve our problems.  Horary astrology definitely is a blast from the past that will not only last, but will bring new vision and insight to everything we hold dear to our hearts.

“Out of the Box and Beyond echoes the Aries Full Moon on September 23, 2010”

Another Full Moon at 00 Aries 16 is on its way at 2:18 a.m. PDT on September 23, 2010, and as always with this phase of the moon, it is our personal perspective, whether the glass is half full or half empty that is important at this time.  It is how we see this Full Moon, which will depend on how beneficial it will be during this lunar period.  Why so important?  With the moon conjunct Uranus and Jupiter and the Sun minimizing the influence of Saturn square Pluto, the need to nourish thoughts and emotions that are out of the box and out of the ordinary that must take center stage.  As we have seen from the last few months, business as usual has taken a step backwards, and the need to think and feel out of the box and beyond is what is going get us out of the existence we have been experiencing to overcome the difficulties and trials that lay ahead of us.  I am not saying that we must choose ideas that are not our usual trend of thoughts, but that we must lay out all the possibilities, and the ones we may not normally think about, to find the one choice that will benefit us the most.  Given all the choices, we have a fighting chance to decide on the right path that will bring us the results we are looking for.  Thinking and feeling out of the box and beyond, and the action to make it happen should be our mantra for this Full Moon in the beginning sign of Aries.

“The Sabian symbol for the Moon in 1 degree of Aries and for the Sun in 1 degree of Libra is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Aries 1  A woman rises out of water, a seal rises and embraces her  This is a symbol of completely unconditioned potentiality, as this may be grasped on the practical side of life.  Here are elements of soul emerging from primordial nonexistence, and of an essentially feminine receptivity calling up a more masculine or personal and self-seeking initiative.  There is an implicit emphasis on the mutual interdependence of the emotional and purposeful aspect of self.  The keyword is realization.  When positive, the degree is an illimitability of experience of which anyone can take advantage under any circumstances, and when negative, a failure to find a place in life because the self cannot separate itself from its private obsessions.

Libra 1  A butterfly made perfect by a dart through it  This is a symbol of completely unconditioned potentiality, as this may be grasped on the imaginative side of life.  Here are elements of individual consciousness emerging from a primordial formlessness, and of wisdom developing through the human spirit’s continual determination to project itself into experience.  Each person comes into identifiable being through the nature which has been molded for him, and thereupon refines this for his own self-expression.  The keyword is articulation.  When positive, the degree is man’s awakening to the need for some more whole-souled focus of character, and when negative, the loss of all true selfhood by a needless surrender to the world and conformity to its way.

The symbols allow us to understand that the primordial concept of the yin and the yang, the co-operation of opposites is the realization that the harmony and the nurturing of these two forces, makes a formidable creator.  That by nurturing and expanding the forces of the Sun, the masculine energies, we are more able to use the Moon forces, the feminine energies to cultivate, manage and articulate our emotions and creative energies for a perfect foundation to manifest our hopes, dreams and ambitions.  It is by using these two forces in synchronization that we will be able to think and feel out of the box and beyond to overcome the difficulties and tribulations that we will need to face, and to take our next step in the journey of life.
