“Is Mercury Retrograde Starting Feb 23rd 2013 Creating a Shakeup or a Reshuffle?”

As we are near the end of one year and are at the early part of another, there is hope and expectation, that a New Age and a transformation is about to happen.  In this atmosphere, the forever messenger and traveler, Mercury, enters with gusto into Retrograde on Saturday, February 23rd 2013, in 19 Pisces 54, at 1:41 am PST, and ends on Sunday, March 17th 2013, in 5 Pisces 38, at 1:03 pm PDT.  My biggest fear with retrograde is our concepts and apprehensions we have built up, over time, about what might happen to us during this period of time.  Having experienced this phenomenon many times, I can attest to the fact that if one is cautious, alert and aware of what is happening at the moment, one has nothing to fear, but fear itself.  This period is asking us to retrace our thoughts and feelings, and to prioritize what is really important to us.

Many times during these periods when a computer, car or electronic instrument is going haywire, our biggest annoyance is the frustration and the time involved.  The real problem is not paying attention to the details and that the results of our actions come back to haunt us with delays and misunderstandings, which we could have avoided.  We will usually get a surprise which we did not expect, because we had not paid attention when it was happening.  The fault is not all due to the planet Mercury, but with us in this fast pace world of today.  We seem to always be anticipating the future, or reminiscing about the past, instead of living and paying attention to the present.  We are mostly to blame, as we tend not to be cautious nor did we pay attention to the details.  We need to become aware of the consequences of our actions or non-actions, to avoid the frustration and delays retrograde can bring.

What disturbs me with this interlude is that, we as astrologers tend to emphasize the negative aspects, rather then the positive actions we can take to avoid the frustrations and delays related to retrograde.  Instead of avoiding certain situations, we need to be prepared and mentally alert for whatever comes our way, in order to avoid the pitfalls.  Knowing that delays and unexpected outcomes are possible, our attitude toward the situation should be more of calmness, rather then agitation.  As we meet each negative situation with a positive action, we will begin to create a positive force around us.   Mercury Retrograde in Pisces is telling us to shakeup our priorities and to reshuffle them in what we truly believe in, and truly stand for.  At this time, it is asking us to find our own inner spiritual voice, and to allow it to have its place in the limelight.

“The Sabian symbol for the Moon in 20th degrees of Pisces and for the Sun in 6th degrees of Capricorn is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Pisces 20  A table set for an evening meal  This is a symbol of nature’s prodigality as revealed through the normal satisfactions for which modern man seldom has to exert himself, and as these take on significance through his instinct for finding every phase of reality a special revelation of his own potentials.  Every individual discovers that there is no part of the universe he cannot enlist for the fulfillment of his own desires, and in making every such potentiality an expression of his own genius he achieves its promise in a thorough self-gratification.  The keyword is familiarity.  When positive, the degree is an effective sensitiveness to every passing need of mankind and when negative, naïve selfishness and a wholly witless optimism.

Pisces 6  Officers on dress parade  This is a symbol of a cyclic and necessary intensification of any personal being, as emphasized on the side of ritualized or ideal experience.  Dignity and protocol always provide a dramatic and valuable rehearsal of cultural or group values, exalting each individual in some one respect for the strengthening of all in their total pattern.  Here is an investment of selfhood for the long-range potentialities of life, made possible by some immediate and self-fulfilling demonstration of personal skill or capacity.  The keyword is discipline.  When positive, the degree is schooled self-assurance and absolute responsibility, and when negative, unimaginative exercise of special privilege.

This symbol speaks to the abundance of gifts, talents and nourishments that is given to us from the Universe, which lies within each of us.  It alludes to the fact that each of us is given the freedom of choice, to accept or reject what life has to offer.  How well we use these gifts and assets in our lives will determine the success and happiness we will achieve.  It is asking us to trust what has been given to us, and that these are the things we need, to fulfill our purpose in this life.  At the same time as we work with these gifts, it is asking us to respect and honor them with the dignity they deserve.  This Mercury Retrograde in Pisces is telling us, we need to shakeup and reshuffle our priorities, if we hope to accept the challenges and the rewards that are about to appear on the horizon, as the New Year unfolds.  At the same time, it is telling us that we need to allow our inner spiritual voice to be given a chance to have its place in the limelight.

“In the Shadow of Our Secrets is the Answer Says the 6 Gemini 46 Lunar Eclipse Nov 28 2012”

Eclipses of any kind are major and powerful transits that can openly or ingeniously effect us, depending on how it aspects our charts, either directly influencing us or forcing us to move onward and forward, increasing our awareness that our survival depends on our growth.  Even if we are not directly affected by the aspect, the essence of its energy and power subtly moves through our actions and thoughts.  With the night sky moving into an aspect representing pent-up energy about to be released, like a sleeping volcano about to be reawakened and with Mercury Retrograde finishing its cycle for our calendar year, the message is loud and clear.  As the 6 Gemini 46 Lunar Eclipse makes its appearance on November 28th 2012 at 6:46 am PST, it is telling us that in the shadows of our secrets is the answer we need to help us through the good and bad times we are about to experience.  In the shadows lie our presumptions, our fears, our hurts and our doubts that keep us from stepping courageously into the unknown and seeking for the light and the answer at the end of the tunnel of life.  Until the light dims, only then are we able to step out of the limelight and to see who we really are and where we really want to direct our efforts to obtain the joy and satisfaction, we truly seek.

“The Sabian symbol for the Moon in 7th degrees of Gemini and for the Sun in 7th degrees of Sagittarius is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Gemini 7  An old-fashion well  This is a symbol of the unimpeachable source of life on the side of personal self-renewal and simple organic integrity.  Implicit in the symbolism is the purity of everything adding up to any individual character, and the curious capacity of man to remain himself whenever he enters in relationship with others and encourages the assimilation of their reality into his own.  He draws in and gives out the substance of himself continuously, and is rewarded by nature as he expends himself in this process of continuing to be.  The keyword is recompense.  When positive, the degree is absolute self-reliance and uncompromising faithfulness, and when negative, insensibility and ineptness in all human contact.

Sagittarius 7  Cupid knocking at the door  This is a symbol of the unimpeachable resources of life on the side of social self-renewals and psychological self-fulfillment.  Implicit in the symbolism are the incurably romantic leanings of mankind and the consequent willingness of the individual to refine or alter every aspect of his own being as a means for entering into self-quickening relations with others.  He associates with his fellows and then breaks the ties he makes with them, but in time he achieves a spiritual integrity.  The keyword is allurement.  When positive, the degree is an insatiable appetite for enlarged experience and highly self-consummative intimacies and when negative, self-exaltation and unbridled desire.

This symbol speaks to us of the source that nourishes and maintains life as we know it through regeneration and revitalization.  It reminds us that in order to sustain life with what we know is the source of well being; we must make sure that it has not been contaminated, before we make use of it.  The same is true with our thoughts and ideas which are the foundation of our philosophy and integrity, in that it is not infected by our fears, our hurts and our doubts.  Implicit in the meaning is the need to give of ourselves to the good of all that has been created, or be like water that has become stagnate that brings diseases or dries up in time.  At the same time it points to a need to have passion in what one believes in.  Being passionate indicates a willingness to change or improvise one’s attitude and one’s behavior in order to achieve one’s goals and wishes.  Our greatest advantage lies in being willing to put aside our disappointments and failures and to make the needed improvements and to be prepare for the next opportunity that comes along.  This Gemini Lunar Eclipse is telling us that in the shadows of our secrets are the answers.  The answer is facing up to our fears, our hurts, and our doubts and the solution will follow.

“Lover Come Back to Me Sings Mercury Retrograde on Nov 6th 2012”

It seems to me that there is always something or someone, which one can not be without and at the same time, to be with.  This is the type of association I always seem to have with Mercury Retrograde.  The planet in retrograde comes around in such a cyclic manner, that it is and here today and gone tomorrow, just as quickly as my love and hate relationship with the planet, does.  When retrograde comes back to me, my love for the time we spend remembering and meditating on what has passed and seeing what clutter needs to be thrown out with those bits and pieces we are keeping to be organized to be use in the future, are the times I cherished and have planned for.  What I hate about retrograde is the need to handle this period of time with caution, with carefulness, with retrospection in order to avoid glitches, with possible personal misunderstandings, with delays, with flawed and disrupted communications.  Mercury Retrograde will be singing “lover, come back to me” as it makes its appearance on November 6th 2012 at 4 Sagittarius 16 R until it turns direct on November 26th 2012 at 18 Scorpio 11.  His stay this time will be highlighted with a Solar Eclipse joining the reunion bringing excitement, tension and unexpected escapades.

“The Sabian symbol for the Mercury Retrograde in 5h degrees of Sagittarius and for the Mercury Direct in 19th degrees of Scorpio is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Sagittarius 5  An old owl up in a tree  This is a symbol of the necessary element of steadiness in human affairs, and of the extent to which the demonstrated and widely accepted values of life must have their full and functioning part in the immediate reality with which an individual may be seeking to come to terms.  Here is the power of man to give an eternal stability or a universal compulsion to whatever seems to call to his own deeper and private potentialities.  Emphasized especially is the real dignity of self-respect.  The keyword is normality.  When positive, the degree is exceptional wisdom or effective self-restraint in each detail of personal accomplishment, and when negative, self-betraying intellectual and emotional smugness.

Scorpio 19  A parrot listening and then talking  This is a symbol of the raw substance of intelligence, and it suggests that conscious existence can be shaped according to any desired lineaments.  Inherent in the symbolism is a sensitiveness to the continual reworking of reality on the ideal or imaginative side, and to the opportunity the individual may have for selecting or rejecting every essential element of his make-up.  Man continually projects the image in which he creates him self.  The keyword is conventionality.  When positive, the degree is exceptional skill in bringing the whole tenor of transient circumstances to the service of a personal aspiration, and when negative, the idle mimicry and self-gratifying pretense.

These symbols speaks to the need to go within our higher self during this period of time to seek the wisdom of restraint and stability with the importance of staying centered and aware of the world around us.  The image represents astuteness, emotional detachment and extreme self control.  The emphasis and the need at this time is to demonstrate dignity, self respect and the knowledge of when to keep silent in any situation that present itself, knowing that our actions may have ramifications we may regret.  To avoid stress and frustrations that can be magnified out of proportion to the reality and actuality of the situation.  With the Solar Eclipse joining the party, it is emphasizing the importance of paying attention and living the moment, as it is vital and essential during this interlude in time.  The significance in allowing our sensitivity and awareness to be grounded is critical to any success.  With the aspects in the night sky, it is telling us that we need to pay attention to our actions, realizing and understanding that our actions and the consequences will reverberate into the future.  Mercury Retrograde is reminding each of us as he sings “Lover come back to me” that the consequences of our actions have a habit of returning and haunting us.  Make sure our thoughts and actions are thoughtfully and carefully worked out during this point in time, is the message he is singing to us.

“The 21 Scorpio 56 Solar Eclipse on Nov 13th is Stressing the Passion for Candidness”

Drama and intrigue is in the air as the cold winter winds blow with Chiron and Neptune in Pisces as they are exchanging glances with Ceres in Cancer, while Mercury Retrograde is in Sagittarius.  The tragedies and the schemes being played out by the aspects in the night sky is being reflected and mirrored within our own conscience.  Solar eclipses are extra powerful New Moons, signaling a time of major endings and the first stages of major beginnings.  On November 13th 2012 is not only a super moon, indicating its closeness to the earth and at the same time, a partial solar eclipse at 21 Scorpio 56 at 3:09 pm PST is stressing the passion for candidness.  Our own sense of right and wrong is demanding us to be honest with ourselves and to have the integrity to step up to the plate when called on.  During this period of time the energies of the moon exposes what we think is our dark side, our secret passions, our fears, our inabilities to cope and the trepidation of not accomplishing and completing one’s destiny.  Our higher inner voices with the push from the influences of the planets are telling us, to shut up or put up.

“The Sabian symbol for the 22nd degree of Scorpio is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Scorpio 22  Hunters starting out for ducks  This is a symbol of the sim0licity of self-expression and the straightforward honesty of desire which men tend to exhibit from birth in nearly every realm of normal or everyday activity, and of the average individual’s need for genuine psychological elbow-room in his dealing with world about him.  Here is freedom of action willy-nilly, as marked in the frequent determination of the human spirit to have this by one means if not by another.  The keyword is enterprise.  When positive, the degree is a complete lack of personal frustration and a constant refinement of special and practical skills in the approach to daily problems, and when negative, a callous exploitation of all life.

This symbol speaks to us of our agenda, our directness and our ability to get to the point whether it is politically correct or not.  It confirms our mission and our strong sense of purpose.  At the same time it subtly implies a lack of restriction, a lack of freedom and a lack of compassion.  This symbol connects well with the aspects in the night sky as it suggests a need to get to the root of the matter, if we are to have a solution to any problem.  It is asking us to go within and candidly review who we are and where we are going.  This is the time to clean our minds of clutter, get rid of old hurts and throw out the dark secrets.  We need to have more transparency, so we can begin to comprehend where we are really coming from and to where we really are going.  With Mercury in retrograde our meditations during this period will surprise us with insights that will amaze us.  As the energies of an eclipse is powerful, may we become more aware and more appreciative of it, and may we heed the message it is sending to us with the passion we have within us.

“Reenergizing By Keeping Retrospection Alive Says Mercury Retrograde July 14 2012”

Many things that happen in this life are very cyclic and they seem to come around before we know it, and least expect it.  This Mercury Retrograde has definitely sneaked up on me, if not all of us, and will begin on July 14th 2012 at 12 Leo 32 R until August 7th 2012 at 01 Leo 26 D.  Every retrograde one experiences, needs to be considered with caution, carefulness and with perception and foresight in order to avoid glitches, personal misunderstanding, flawed, disrupted, and delayed communications with ourselves and others.  Although I know there will always be delays and disruptions that we can not avoid during this period, much of the frustrations and stresses we will experience are caused by our own carelessness and thoughtlessness.  I have always believed we need to take action in place of reacting to any situation for our advantage, if we are to get through this period of time with flying colors.  With retrospection we can review and relive the moment preparing alternative endings that will reenergize how we see things.  It will prepare us to improvise and to come up with the right decisions to avoid any stress or tribulations one normally experiences during this period of time.

“The Sabian symbol for the Moon in 13 degrees of Leo and for the Sun in 2 degrees of Leo is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Leo 13  An  old sea captain rocking  This  is a symbol  of man’s great love for reliving his experiences in memory, and of his gift for achieving a mastery in  advance of whatever new situations he may face by bringing all the ramifying relationships to a focus in a personal and competent grasp of their more pertinent potentialities.  He fights the battles of the world in his imagination, over and over again.  He knows that events repeat themselves, and so may be brought in leash.  The keyword is retrospect.  When positive, the degree in each person’s unlimited capacity for calling up afresh the powers he has gained in his struggle toward self-fulfillment, and when negative, insensibility to present reality in a full surrender to the past.

Leo 2  An epidemic of mumps  This is a symbol of personal capacities wholly out of hand, and of the momentary appeal of escapist ideas whenever the self fails to remain alive to its own immediate needs or ultimate interests.  The reversed symbolism emphasizes the absolute necessity laid on every living spirit, that somehow it retain a passionate sensitiveness to the practical import or organic usefulness of everything it encounters in its everyday situation.  Here is life poised in sharp susceptibility.  The keyword is infection.  When positive, the degree is continual self-dramatization as the basis for participation in current affairs, and when negative, retreat to self-deficiencies in a frantic effort to avoid experience.

This symbol speaks to us that our maturity and our experiences, on any matter we are concern with at the moment, are a few of the assets that are pertinent as the turning point in avoiding mistakes during this retrograde period.  The past proves everything is cyclic and will give us the clue when they are about to happen again, or we can stop them before they get started when we see the first signs that are about to begin.  The emphasis is that history repeats itself and occurs in cycles.  By remembering the events that have happen in the last retrograde we will be able to foresee the possibilities.  This is the time to return to our inner thoughts and to anticipate, live and be conscious of each moment as it happens.  In the reflection of the past, we can imagine and construct a better tomorrow.  Applying this to the retrograde, we can avoid similar mistakes and go through this period without the degree of difficulty and stress normally associated with this interlude of time.  With Mercury in Leo we need to make sure we do not allow our ego, creativity, pleasures, and self-expression to get in the way of paying attention to the details and to what is actually happening at the moment.  If we do that, this phase will go by more smoothly and without the incidents normally associated with it.  This Mercury Retrograde can be reenergized by our retrospection.

“Opportunities Are Quick to Disappear Mumbles the 2 Aries 22 New Moon on Mar 22 2012”

As the darkness of night become shorter and the daylight glows brighter and longer with the cold winter air giving way to the warmer and more cheerful weather patterns, a sense that the old ways need to give way to new perspectives and objectives is in the air.  Amid this hopeful atmosphere the 2 Aries 22 New Moon at 7:38 am PDT on March 22nd 2012 appears on the horizon and is subtly mumbling that opportunities are quick to disappear.  The potential of this moon phase is emphasized by the closeness to the vernal equinox, with the concentration of energy in Aries a cardinal sign, the retrograde of Mercury and Mars, with Jupiter trine Pluto, and Neptune into Pisces.  The aspects are warning us that the opportunities for a beneficial outcome is in the air, but that we need to use caution with our actions and thoughts, if we are to take advantage of the moment.  Impulsive thoughts or actions are pitfalls at this point, and the time we have to grasp for the change we need to make, may be sooner to end than we think.  The foundation of our beliefs that we have been building upon is about to be tested and the proof of the pudding will be revealed.  As we enter the year 2012 being set in our mode of handling any situation needs to give way to being alert, open and willing to deal with whatever crosses our path, and the time for action is now.

“The Sabian symbol for the 3rd degree of Aries is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Aries 3  A cameo profile of a man in the outline of his country  This is a symbol of a real breadth of participation in everyday affairs, and of the extent to which every individual tends to epitomize the tradition and culture from which he has emerged.  There is here the suggestion of both an impersonal self-dedication to broader community interests and a highly personal dramatization of the self as a focus for group actuality.  The keyword is expectation.  When positive, the degree is man’s capacity for giving full play to every ramification of the reality he has created for himself, and when negative, an unimaginative conventionality which leaves him in bondage to every current stereotype of human relations.

This symbol speaks to us of a personal and yet impersonal involvement of life that spirals around us in that we as unique individuals, representing not only who we are, but as the collective identity of our community, country, heritage, cultural and social traditions.  The implication is that the uniqueness of the individual is overshadowed by his singular expression and dedication to the achievement of social, rather than personal goals and wishes.  This image epitomizes the highest and grandest ideas, talents, and traditions associated with any particular group, organization, country, or the global community.  It encourages enthusiasm, joy and satisfaction that our greatest advantages lie in working towards the achievement of group objectives.  Here the aspects in the night sky come into play by encouraging us to take time out of our busy lives for rethinking, reevaluating, and reviewing what has gone before, and what we want to follow and what we want to bring to fruition for the future.  The Universe is telling us to be certain that if we are representing utopian ideas, thoughts and actions that these concepts are what truly represents who we are and what we really believe and stand for.  The planets in retrograde at this time is telling us to take care and caution in our thoughts, decisions and actions.  Impulsiveness is not the word of the day, but action is, as the 2 Aries 22 New Moon mumbles and reminds us that opportunities are quick to disappear and fade away.

“Action in Place of Reaction Gives us the Advantage during Mercury Retrograde March 11th 2012”

As the dark winter days continue to dim, making way for the first signs that spring is in the air, about a week before the vernal equinox the first Mercury Retrograde of 2012 begins on March 12th at 6 Aries 48, which appears on the horizon until April 4th  at 23 Pisces 52.  This retrograde is telling us to take action in place of reacting to any situation for our advantage, if we are to get through this period of time with flying colors.     A Retrograde period is when caution, carefulness and retrospection is a necessity to avoid glitches, personal misunderstanding, flawed, disrupted, and delayed communications with ourselves and others.  Although I know there will always be delays and disruptions that we can not avoid during this period, I do believe much of the frustrations and stresses we will experience is caused by our own carelessness because we are reacting to the circumstances, instead of taking a proactive approach to the situations and decisions we encounter.  For some of us, if we begin to develop our foresight and to anticipate the possibilities, we may begin to see this period as a time to appreciate with gratitude the gifts Mercury gives and blesses us with.  As the aphorism “absence makes the heart grow fonder”, the Universe exemplifies this by giving us this period of time to appreciate and to meditate on how Mercury works in our lives by either creating or destroying our desires, which depends on whether we pay attention to how we work with its energy .

“The Sabian symbol for Mercury in 7 degrees of Aries and for Mercury in 24 degrees of Pisces is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Aries 7  A man successfully expressing himself in two realms at once  This is a symbol  of a creative division of labor within the self, such  as distinguishes human kind from the lower orders of life and enables any individual  to participate in the experience of many interpenetrating realms of reality.  There is capacity here for a complete control of events by shifting from one to another focus of emphasis whenever it proves convenient or expedient.  The keyword is proficiency.  When positive, the degree is unlimited versatility and a special gift for divorcing the things of issue from whatever lacks immediate pertinence, and when negative, a tendency to defeat all self-competence in an unintelligent scattering of interest.

Pisces 24  An inhabited island  this is a symbol of the self-adequacy of experience on the objective side of everyday reality, and of man’s gift for the organization of his own private world in any area of his special interest.  He is always able to function in a complete independence of the alien or the unfriendly, and to develop adequate resources for his need in what at the beginning might seem to be the most barren of situations.  He capitalizes on the potentials among which he finds himself, and nurses the least of promise to its fruits.  The keyword is cultivation.  When positive, the degree is achievement through a creative opportunism or inventiveness of exceptional order, and when negative, snobbish complacency and self-indulgence.

This symbol is so appropriate to the message of the retrograde, in that it is speaking to us to develop and to open up to our inherent ability of versatility, adaptability, and our capacity to function in more than one area of concentration and our aptitude to make decisions independently of any circumstances that present itself.  Our skill to multitask gives us a sense of confidence and freedom to make proactive choices, instead of going with the flow that passes around us.  It also speaks to us about our self confidence in our self-reliance to function independently at will at any moment and in any incident to solve or resolve any problem or condition that presents itself.  The image stresses the necessity and the importance to thoroughly being able to and willing to pay attention and to analyze the potential or the problem of our decisions and actions.  By developing this practice, it will become apart of us in time, and in time it will operate without us realizing it.  This asset, which is a gift of the Universe will come in quite handy with whatever we experience through the coming year, and will be the key to the successful completion of our hopes and wishes at this time.  During this Mercury Retrograde we have to take action in place of reaction in which it is to our advantage, in accomplishing that which we wish to accomplish.
