“June 1st 2011 Gemini Solar Eclipse Resounds That Spontaneity Leads to Discovery”

Eclipse Symbol by Deirdre Tanton

As the summer months begin to appear on the horizon, a Partial Solar Eclipse is the beginning of three eclipses in a row on June 1st 2011 at 2:02 p.m. PDT at 11 Gemini 02, brings its enchantments, myths, and legends to the forefront of our thoughts.  The ancients considered the eclipses as omens of evil and tribulations as the lights, the Sun or the Moon, are hidden for a short period of time from view.  In our modern times these superstitions seem passé, except for the fact the earth seems to be rebelling with earthquakes and weather patterns going berserk around the globe causing havoc and destruction in its path, with the awaking of social and political unrest happening everywhere, at the same time.  The diversity of discontents and upheavals is causing the reawakening of the subtle implications that the Universe is trying to tell us something, is in the air.  With so many voices pronouncing that the end of the world is imminent, and the visual and physical evidence that seems to be happening, our subconscious and inner soul is seeking answers and signs, to bring comfort to the uncertain feelings that abound.

The partial eclipse is trine Saturn in opposition to Uranus square Pluto, and a stellium of planets which include Mercury, Venus and Mars in Taurus is echoing and resounding that spontaneity and improvisation at the moment leads to discoveries and inspirations.  Spontaneity indicates that we are living and making decisions with quick mental and emotional reactions, and we are made accountable for our actions and the outcome of our choices.  In the blink of an eyelid, to make the decision to live the moment and to see the implications of that action and to know it will lead to new avenues of inspirations and discoveries in our next turn, on the road of life.  The Solar Eclipse is giving us a wakeup call and telling and commanding us to realize that this period in our evolution is a turning point in which we must take serious steps, and to make it happen.  With Saturn in opposition to Uranus, change is not the only keyword, but versatility, adaptability, improvisation, and our need to be spontaneous with wisdom and judgment (Jupiter trine the North Node).  To know also that everything beneficial or malefic placed in our path is for a purpose, and with wisdom and discernment, we will make the right choices for progress.

“The Sabian symbol for the 12th degree of Gemini is taken from “The Sabian Symbols in Astrology by Marc Edmund Jones”, and what follows are my comments.

Gemini 12  A Topsy saucily asserting herself  This is symbol of the balance which every individual must maintain between the compulsions of the social milieu on which his wellbeing depends and the necessity that he exercise his fledgling wings on every possible occasion.  Like the slave girl trying the patience of her mistress as far as she dares, man must speak out to life with an almost spiritual impudence in order to have any character at all.  Personality here is refined as it risks its very being to be what it as yet has still to become.  The keyword is growth.  When positive, the degree is a high gift for taking personal advantage of every new situation in experience, and when negative, a joy in pure dissatisfaction.

This Sabian symbol is reminding us to take a stand to assert ourselves to gain the confidence, in order to grow into the person we want to become.  Growth takes time and experience which requires trials and errors to decide how far we can go, and what works for us.  Although we may not wish to go through the trials and tribulations that life has in store for us, the experience and the effort we put into it, is what gives us the character that defines each of us as individuals.  It is being spontaneous of any situation that we become aware that this is the moment that brings about new discoveries and inspirations to where we need to be.  It is being responsible for our spontaneous actions that wisdom and discernment comes into play, and that gives us the confidence to live our own lives to the fullest every moment of the day.  This Partial Gemini Solar Eclipse is giving us the magical energy to help us to be more spontaneous and adventuresome to discover the inspirations we need to overcome whatever is ahead of us in the coming months.  Our duty to the Universe is to accept the gift in gratitude and to work with it to the best of our abilities.

One should never try to delineate an aspect without seeing the whole picture. To look at a house or an aspect, without seeing the whole chart is like looking through a key hole. You see only part of the picture, and even that may be deceptive. With the eclipse conjunct, but being in the first house it is possibly forcing you to be more spontaneous when you reevaluate, clarify and communicate your thoughts about personal relationships, soul mates and whether you are, or need to be the center and communicating partner in any relationship. The aspect of Jupiter to Juno may give you a clue, and you should see if the ruler of the first is making an aspect to Juno. Thanks for the question.

      Hi
First you need to check what house the eclipse is in, and what aspects it makes to the natal planets, as this will give you clues to how it will approximately influence your next six months. Solar eclipses are New Moons which mean it is a good time to begin new projects and reexamine where you are and where you are going. For some the eclipses are very subtle, and at the same time, creating changes that are very dramatic and satisfying for the individual, not originally in the individual’s consciousness.

  4. This eclipse conjuncts my Venus in the 9th house. Venus has no difficult aspects in my chart. Saturn is crossing my ascendant in Libra though, while squaring Mars and Pluto.

      Hi
I have always felt that two planets conjunct were like two friends standing together joining forces to help one another. Which one is considered the helper, and which one is being helped, is the question? Remember it is not what this eclipse’s energy has in store for us, but what we can do with this energy to create a happier and more satisfying life for ourselves. If we considers Saturn a teacher and we are willing to have an open mind to observe and learn, then this planet crossing your ascendant, may be more joyful and wonderful then one expects it to be. Spontaneity is the keyword with the square to Mars and Pluto as one walks on the wild side.

      Hi Kate
The first house is an indication of who we are and what we want to present to the world, with the eclipse in the first, reevaluation and reinvention of who we are and what we want the world to see may be vitally important at the moment. This is a start and one should see where Mercury is in his chart and how it aspects the first. This will give you some clues, but I suspect this eclipse is giving him the confidence to be want he wants to be.

Dear Lincoln, Thank you for replying to me. My son is born on 10th February 1995 at 11.14am in the morning, in Kingston upon Thames, England, UK. his Moon is in the 1st house Gemini 23.degrees. His Mercury is in the 10th House, Aquarius at 07.43 degrees but I believe it is retrograde. His sun is in the 10th House direct and his Mars is in 4th House 23.32 but retrograde. he is leaving school at the end of June and starting to play football for a major Premiership club in the UK on a contract for 2 years so lots of changes. Is this solar eclipse, new moon the start of all the changes? By the way, he is not studying for his school exams which are taking place now. He really hopes to become a footballer and make it his career. Any advice is valuable to me as there will be so many changes and I am trying to guide him as a solo parent. Thank you so much in advance. Kate

        Hi Kate
If this eclipse works its magic, your son will become more convinced of what he wants and where he thinks he needs to be. The eclipse is in a close opposition to his Jupiter on the cusp of the seventh house, which becomes more important then the eclipse in the first house and the orb to his natal moon is ten degrees. My advice to you, as you seem very concern about the choices your son might decide on, is consult a school advisor and see what his recommendations would be, or work with a local astrologer. My advice is that you can advise your son what your thoughts are, but it appears to me, with Mercury in Aquarius on the cusp of the mid heaven, that he needs to make his own way with his own trial and errors. All you can hope to do is to support him and be there when he really needs you.
        Regards

The eclipse is conjunct my natal moon 10deg59′ and natal saturn 11deg19′ in the 1st house, and will trine saturn in libra, my 5th house. With personal planet (moon) in conjunct with the eclipse will surely affect me considerably on what way? Noting that mercury is my ruling planet, Transiting mercury in taurus will conjunct my ASC during the eclipse, How would all this will affect me?

      Hi
The first house represents you and how you think of yourself and how others see you, and what you allow them to see of who you really are. Without seeing the chart, and making a guess, within the next six months I think changes in how you think, feel and handle yourself and the situations that present themselves, will take on new directions to go along with your new wishes and goals you have for yourself.

Eclipse is conjunct natal mars in my 9th house; opposing natal Jupiter and squares natal Plute & Ascendant. I have started a business and wish to be successful but it’s a struggle and feeling quite hurt over an unfullfilled love relationship that I just can’t seem to forget about.

      Hi
Pluto is always intense, and when involved with emotions, especially unfulfilled love relationships can be very trying for peace of mind. One needs to work with and to begin to understand what is really important in your life at the moment. If you want your business to succeed, you need to overcome the hurt feelings by working through them. It might be advisable to see a professional and see the different approaches that will help you to deal with the feelings. Pluto is more of friend when one understands its energies and works with it, instead of against it.
      Regards,
      Lincon
